Taiwan opened its doors to mainland Chinese tourist groups since the summer of 2008. In 2009, the number of Chinese tourists to Taiwan totalled 972,000, up 195 percent from 2008, according to Taiwan抯 tourism bureau chief Wayne Liu. Liu said the bureau predicts the number of Chinese visitors for 2010 will reach 1.12 million.
